WATCH OUT for AI translations in iTr LN of words ending with the same syllables as another translated word..

Since the translations are done by replacing the "word - missing space" with "word - translation", if another word ends in the same letters as the word translated before, they will both receive the same translation, resulting in the word with an additional prefix having 2 translations combined. So .. watch out for that!

Differentiating similar words

some words are very similar and easy to mistake for eachother, especially for students who are just starting to learn them; For example: useful and useless or quiet and quite. I've seen colours used to differentiate these words in the vocabulary and grammar boxes. I've decided to try italicising in the "answer your questions homework". What are you thoughts on this?

Strange question numbers glitch

hi I've encountered a weird glitch where when I copied the same homework from 1 student's space to the other student's paces the numbered questions went up with each copy and I'm not sure why as this has never happened before. How can I fix this?

Broken Lesson Info form links!

It seems that using "line break" [enter] when filling out any text field can break the link to the LESSON INFO forms you get when the lesson has started.

When you click the link, much of the prefilled data will be missing.

A proper Lesson Info form link should look concise and more or less like this:

An improper one will be more along the lines, where the hyperlink is limited to a couple of first characters:

PLEASE, DON'T SUBMIT FORMS FROM SUCH LINKS! The data will be missing and it will have to be done agan. Plus, the iTr LN will not be checked either.

I think I already fixed this specific issue, but if the link looks suspicious, let me know and I will be implementing fixes to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Thoughts on "backwards lessons"?

Sometimes when the student knows the rest of the vocabulary box well enough and I know what's most important, I will conduct "backwards lessons" basically started from choosing a small handful of phrases from the white box, introducing them with 2 questions each, then place them in the yellow box. I will then revise any older words starting with the yellow box (any that were there before I added the new ones) then the middle blue box then students ask questions using the grey lower box as per usual.

Any thoughts on this process? Should we use it? Can it be altered in any way?

Is it OK to introduce new vocabulary while conducting a general revision?

Should I add revision vocabulary in the HW and should it be translated?

Generally, no. You should neither add any of the revised words in the student's HW (above the question they were first used in) nor its translation, although there might be a situation where it is more than welcome.

Usually it happens when the student claims they are familiar with this vocabulary and there is no need to for you to introduce it anew.

In this case, simply suggest that they could benefit from revising this vocabulary and add it to the MIDDLE level of the VOCABULARY BOX.

Also add the revised word/phrase above the question it is used in, but this time using the H5 (Heading 5) formatting. Don't leave any translation, not to rob the student of the opportunity to figure out how familiar they are with the vocabulary mentioned.

When should we add HW when the student cancels or reschedules their lesson?

Basically, whenever we are paid 50% and more, we should both check the student's HW from the previous lesson (which is hardly ever done) and leave 7 revision questions (5 for 40-minute lessons) as their HW.

Although the issue of that having sense has been raised and requires discussion and consideration.

[REMINDER!] Practice PRONUNCIATION of the introduced vocabulary at the end of the lesson!

It's good practice to practice the pronunciation of all the words/phrases you put in the VOCABULARY BOX at the end of the lesson (those introduced during the lesson as well as those practiced/revised that you have put there and in the HW).

Simply go over the vocabulary box, highlighting the above-mentioned words/phrases and asking the students to repeat after you.

Repeat with the student until they have pronounced the words/phrases accordingly.

Feel free to encourage those rather shy students to repeat after you. Be relentless, unless the student finds it really difficult to cooperate, for some reason.

[REMINDER!] Feel free to move the words in the VOCAB BOX as you see fit.

Remember that you can move the vocabulary in the vocabulary box freely between the levels as you see fit, judging on how well this vocabulary has been revised or generally how familiar the student is with this vocabulary already.

Initially, the words correspond the order they were introduced, but often it happens that we have the time to revise some and leave the revision of the other for the next teacher. Thus, the placement of the vocabulary in the box should correspond to the student's knowledge and their need for practice.
